What will you do when you lose weight? Or better yet, what is stopping you now?

When I lose weight I will...

  • …take dancing lessons.
  • …start dating again.
  • …walk with the girls.
  • …have fun everyday.

Wow. This is simple, and yet

Wow. This is simple, and yet really powerful. I don't know anyone that hasn't fallen into this trap - and not just about losing weight. It's amazing how the hardest thing to change is your thinking!

I would not as a rule comment

I would not as a rule comment to weblogs however I liked this post so I was compelled to do so. Straying away from the topic somewhat, what are your thoughts concerning walking? It is generally being put forward as the best exercise to burn fat.

In response to Sridharaya,

In response to Sridharaya, I'd say walking is an excellent start! What better way to get healthy then by enjoying a nice walk outside, walking your dog, enjoying music or walking/visiting with a friend?
Any low intensity exercise will burn fat, but if you aren't motivated to do that exercise on the recommended daily amount... then is it really the best?
Its all about enjoyment, if you don't enjoy what you are doing the chances of you sticking with the exercise and seeing the results is slim. I believe the most important thing about exercising is that you like what you do.
I personally wouldn't agree that it is the BEST exercise, because really... what is the best? everyone is different. But if you are looking for an exercise that will get you moving, feeling good about yourself and keep you motivated then walking is a great way to start.

Great tiny but yet powerful

Great tiny but yet powerful post. I think losing weight should be approached in small steps with a long term goal set. Start walking 10-20 minutes every third day for example. Be proud of yourself having done that for a while. When you feel more motivation walk a bit longer or/and more often.

After a while of more activity in your life you will naturally feel that it's time to change the way you eat. Maybe you feel like eating a more healthy breakfast once in a while. Then do that. Just small steps at the time. The more you eat healthy the more you want to eat healthy. The only catch is that you have to have knowledge about healthy (this blog is a perfect source for that).

Don't forget to see yourself reaching the goal that will also bring your motivation up.

Start now, just one tiny step. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk to the supermarket instead of taking the car..
